Drugs that can enhance your own body’s immune system in identifying and eradicating cancer cells. One such drug that is used for ACC treatment is pembrolizumab (brand name in the U.S. is Keytruda®). There are several types of cancer immunotherapies and they target different things, according to Yale Medicine. Some will produce antibodies to attack cancer cells directly. Others work differently, like Pembrolizumab, which enhances the immune system’s ability to kill cancer cells. This class of immunotherapy is called an immune checkpoint inhibitor.
